Product and function
SHEET combines a cement-bound mineral matrix with fibre reinforcement. The factory-cured board is intended as an additional protective and load-spreading layer within the roof build-up.
It can spread local loads from support points, maintenance traffic and technical equipment over a larger insulation area. The achievable distribution depends on board properties, support geometry, joints, insulation and load duration; it does not increase the roof structure’s available load capacity.
Technical product data
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Product | VlamShield SHEET |
| Material | Cement-bound, fibre-reinforced mineral board |
| Nominal thickness | 10 mm |
| Standard board size | 1,500 × 1,250 mm |
| Area per board | 1.875 m² |
| Mass per area | 10 kg/m² |
| Mass per board | 18.75 kg, calculated |
| Preferred position | Above thermal insulation, below roof waterproofing |
| Application | Flat roofs with PV and technical equipment |
| Permissible point load / system load capacity | Build-up dependent; no approved tabulated value yet |
| Reaction to fire / fire resistance | Only with the corresponding product or system evidence |
| Dimensional and mass tolerances | To be established |
Calculation: 1.50 m × 1.25 m = 1.875 m²; 1.875 m² × 10 kg/m² = 18.75 kg per board. Dimensions and mass per area are nominal values. Cutting waste and other roof layers are not included.
Loads beneath photovoltaic systems
PV mounting structures, ballast, maintenance traffic and technical equipment impose different loads. Assessment of SHEET covers both added distributed weight and local loads, including compression of the insulation.
Covering 100 m² adds approximately 1,000 kg of board mass by calculation. PV, mounting structure, ballast and other layers are additional. Total loads and installation-stage loads must be checked against the roof’s available capacity.
The board does not replace the load-bearing structure or structural verification. Its mass per area does not establish general approval for arbitrary PV support points or ballast.
Insulation and waterproofing combinations
PIR, EPS, mineral wool, wood-fibre insulation and cellular glass are considered for system selection. This list does not approve every manufacturer or strength grade.
Insulation compression and long-term deformation, loaded area, board joints and edges are critical. The membrane, adhesives, separation layers and fixings must suit the complete build-up. Each project combination is coordinated with its supporting documentation.
Mineral protection and fire performance
SHEET forms an additional mineral layer between insulation and waterproofing. Thermal protection also depends on joints, thickness, heat transfer and the complete roof build-up.
Mineral composition alone establishes neither a reaction-to-fire class, fire resistance nor insurer acceptance. Specific classifications will be added with the corresponding test report and field of application.
Handling and installation sequence
1. Coordinate the build-up and loads
Identify insulation, proposed membrane, support points, drainage and spare load capacity. The substrate and insulation must provide suitable continuous support.
2. Handle and lay the boards
Account for board size, approximately 18.75 kg per board and wind conditions during transport and installation. Coordinate laying sequence and cutting with the roof plan. Store boards dry and protected.
3. Plan joints, junctions and wind restraint
Specify joints, edges, penetrations, fixings and any adhesive bonding in the installation plan. This data sheet does not provide universal fixing spacings.
4. Install the waterproofing
The subsequent membrane provides the waterproofing function. Protect open work areas from moisture and plan continuous junctions and outlets. The installation instructions for the selected configuration govern the work.
Moisture and weather exposure
The standard application is below the waterproofing membrane. Permanent exposure to weather is not included and requires explicit approval for the relevant system.
SHEET does not replace roof waterproofing. Repeated wetting, wet–dry cycles and construction moisture must be considered in material selection, storage and construction sequencing.
Testing and system assessment
Technical assessment covers fire performance, point loads and load distribution with the intended insulation, as well as the secured roof build-up under wind loading.
Permissible loads must be assigned to the particular combination of board, insulation, support and fixing. No load limits, wind ratings or certifications are stated here without applicable results. International or insurance-related requirements, including FM, require their own supporting evidence.
Project information and contact
