Product and function
WEER adds a non-combustible, weather-resistant mineral board beneath and between PV modules. The waterproofing membrane remains below it. The board can also be used in edge, upstand and junction details.

Material durability supports exposed use. It does not replace roof waterproofing or drainage, joint and fixing design. Additional coatings or facings are not automatically covered by the uncoated board’s A1 classification.
Documented fire resistance tests
The following fire resistance tests concern mineral boards used as protection to building elements. Each class applies to the specified and tested construction.
| Tested application | Scope |
|---|---|
| Protection to steel members | Board thicknesses from 15 to 60 mm; R 15 to R 240 depending on construction |
| Loadbearing concrete members | 15 mm protection; assessment to EN 13381-3 with element-specific field of application |
| Specified loadbearing profiled steel deck | 15 mm lining in the tested construction: RE 120 / REI 30 to EN 1365-2 |
WEER is installed on the roof above the waterproofing membrane. A1 describes the board’s reaction to fire. The fire resistance classes listed above apply to the respective tested building-element constructions.
Roof membranes, loads and position
WEER is designed above the waterproofing beneath PV. Membranes considered are PVC-P, mineral-surfaced bitumen, PIB and TPO/FPO. The boards are laid directly on the waterproofing.
Covering 100 m² adds approximately 1,200 kg of board mass, plus PV mounting and ballast. Structural design must also consider installation and storage loads, moisture and local supports. The board does not increase spare structural capacity.
Water must drain over the membrane below. Falls, outlets, emergency overflows and inspection points must remain functional and accessible. Allowable support loads and wind restraint are designed for the specific board, membrane and insulation combination.
Handling and installation
1. Assess the roof and loads
Identify membrane condition and product, spare load capacity, falls, drainage and PV supports. Repair leaks before installation.
2. Coordinate cutting and layout
Specify board size, joints, edge distances and detail cuts in the laying plan. Carry individual boards upright; account for weight and wind exposure. Use suitable sawing equipment with dust extraction.
3. Lay the boards and provide wind restraint
Lay the boards directly on the waterproofing and secure them using the engineered fixing or ballast scheme. Do not make uncontrolled penetrations through waterproofing.
4. Check junctions and drainage
Inspect supports, joints, penetrations and edges. Keep outlets and inspection routes clear. Fixing spacings from wall or ceiling linings must not be transferred to PV roofs without assessment.
Supply and storage
Standard size: 2,600 × 1,250 mm; project sizes and cuts are specified in the quotation. Store boards flat with full support, protected from dirt and mechanical damage. Water and frost resistance do not remove the need for safe storage on the roof.
Follow the relevant installation instructions and occupational and dust protection measures.
Project coordination and contact
For project coordination, provide roof area and plan, exact membrane, spare load capacity, PV supports, ballast, drainage and installation schedule.
